The Philadelphia Phillies edged the Milwaukee Braves in 12 innings at County

Stadium by the score of 6 to 5.



Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Philadelphia won it

in the 12th inning. Eddie Waitkus smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his

2nd of the season). Philadelphia banged out 10 hits on the afternoon.



Jack Meyer(11-8) allowed no runs in 4 innings, and picked up the victory. Dave

Jolly(2-4) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 2

innings.
