NL Trade June 3rd
The St Louis Cardinals traded 11 year veteran catcher Del Rice to the Milwaukee Braves for 25 year old outfielder Pete Whisenant. Rice has spent his entire 10 plus years with the Redbirds. He was hitting a paltry .107 in 20 games and 56 AB's with one HR and 10 RBI.

nt has not played this year and was up for a brief cup of coffee in 1952 when the Braves were in Boston.
NL Transaction June 3rd
Al Silvera was signed today as an amateur free agent (bonus baby) by Cincinnati Reds. The 19 year old from San Diego is placed directly on the major league roster of the Redlegs.
