Billy Loes came through with a solid 9 innings as the Brooklyn Dodgers
destroyed the Milwaukee Braves by a score of 10 to 0 at Ebbets Field.

Sandy Amoros made sure the Brooklyn fans enjoyed themselves. He tripled which
was good for two runs in the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit bringing in
two baserunners in the 4th inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners in
the 6th inning. Brooklyn had a total of 10 hits for the game.

Loes(4-2) was credited with the shutout. The loss was charged to Bob
Buhl(4-2). His ERA ballooned from 2.45 to 3.61 as he allowed 7 runs in 3 and
1/3 innings.

'Loes pitched a gem of a game', Charlie Grimm recounted. 'He kept our batters
off balance the entire game.'






 

NL Transaction June 3rd


The New York Giants called up 22 year old Venezuelan Ramon Monzant to bolster the pitching staff. Monzant made one start and four other appearances in 1954 with no decisions and a 5.87 ERA. He is known as a curveball specialist and the Giants have high hopes for this youngster.

To make room New York released 28 year old righty Al Corwin. Corwin was 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in 25 innings this year after a miserable 1954 season (7.55 ERA in 31 IP).

NL Transaction June 2nd


The New York Giants called up 24 yr old Rookie 1B Gail Harris. Manager Leo Durocher said that Harris should be making his ML debut today or tomorrow.

To make room 27 year old infielder Billy Gardner was sent down. Gardener was hitting .316 in 19 AB's with 1 HR and 3 RBI.
