Johnny Logan smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Gene Conley tossed a
complete game as the Milwaukee Braves beat the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of
6 to 3.

Logan enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in
the 1st inning, ripped a solo home run (his 5th of the season) in the 6th
inning and delivered a single scoring a run in the 9th inning. Milwaukee
managed 10 in their victory.

Conley(4-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. The losing
pitcher was Carl Erskine(4-4). He served up 4 homeruns in his 8 innings.

Center fielder Willie Mays jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI and
Jim Hearn tossed a complete game shutout as the New York Giants beat the
Cincinnati Redlegs by a score of 4 to 0.

Hearn(5-4) gave New York a solid outing. He allowed 11 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings lowering his ERA from 4.26 to 3.73. New York had 12 hits for the
afternoon.

Joe Nuxhall(4-4) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 10 hits
in 6 innings.

NL Transaction June 1st


The St. Louis Cardinals sent down 20 year old SS Dick Schofield. This is the third year in a row that Schofield has had a brief cup of coffee with the big club. He was hitless in 4 at bats in 4 games.

The Milwaukee Braves recalled 23 year old pitcher Ray Crone today. Crone started the season in Milwaukee posting a 2-1 record with a 1.84 ERA in 15 IP, including one start.

To make room the Braves sent down 31 year old OF Jim Pendleton. Pendleton was 0-10 in 7 games. They also sent down 24 year old pitcher Humberto Robinson. Robinson was 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA in 16 IP.
