Bob Turley struck out 14 batters as the New York Yankees defeated the
Cleveland Indians by a score of 4 to 3 at Yankee Stadium.

Turley(2-1) put on a good performance. He allowed only 4 hits and 7 walks in
9 innings and surrendered 2 'long-bombs' seeing his ERA drop from 5.04 to
4.58. The Cleveland offense proved no trouble in the 9th.

Don Mossi(1-1) was the loser in relief. Turley was jubilant in the hometown
clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot of support
as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 14 strikeouts
anytime!'
