Ernie Johnson had a strong outing at County Stadium where the Milwaukee Braves
beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 5 to 1.

Johnson(2-1) was simply too much for the Pittsburgh batters. He didn't allow
much, just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 4.05 to
2.30. Milwaukee managed 9 in their victory.

Max Surkont(1-5) was the losing pitcher. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his
2 and 2/3 innings of work. 'All of my pitches were working tonight,' Johnson
said. 'I felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone
longer.'
