Right fielder Carl Furillo had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Busch Stadium where
the seemingly unstoppable Brooklyn Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals by
the score of 8 to 2.

Brooklyn jumped on top of St. Louis in the top of the 2nd inning with 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Furillo got things going when he lined a one-base
hit. Gil Hodges was next and he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Don
Zimmer stepped up to the plate and he stroked a single, and an error was also
committed, scoring two teammates. Overall Brooklyn out-hit St. Louis 12 to
7.

Johnny Podres(4-0) allowed 1 run in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Harvey Haddix(3-4) was the loser. He was not very effective,
surrendering 5 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
