Left fielder Minnie Minoso had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Billy Pierce pitched
a complete game as the Chicago White Sox defeated the New York Yankees 11 to
3 at Yankee Stadium.

New York was unable to claim the lead after Chicago went ahead in the top of
the 5th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. Chicago had a total of
13 hits for the game.

Pierce(3-1) got the victory, allowing 3 runs for the game. Whitey Ford(3-2)
was the losing pitcher. He pitched 4 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 8 hits
and no walks.

The Chicago ballclub's record now stands at a league leading 19-9. With an
impressive recent record of 8-2, New York hopes this will only be an isolated
loss - followed by another nice run.
