AL May 27th Transaction


The Boston Red Sox (19-21) announced the activation today of Ted Williams. "The Splendid Splinter" hit .324 in 1954, with 32 home runs and 77 RBI in 125 games. At age 36 Williams was just recently able to swing the bat and get ready for the 1955 campaign.


Russ Kemmerer was sent down to make room for Williams. In two starts Kemmerer was 1-1 with a 5.71 ERA in 17 IP.
