The Cardinals fire Eddie Stanky as their skipper.

The St. Louis Cardinals fired manager Eddie Stanky today. Stanky had led the Redbirds to an 18-19 record so far this year. After a quick start the Cardinals have lost 8 of their last 11 games to fall 4th place. Last year St Louis finished 80-74 under Stanky

Replacing him will be Harry Walker. Walker started his career as a Cardinal. He finished his 10 year career with a .296 lifetime average. Harry missed two seasons serving his country in the military during WWII. This will be his first ML managing position.
