Rookie Herb Score takes a no hitter into the 8th and finishes with a 3 hit shutout as Cleveland whips Kansas City 9-0.



Score runs his record to 7-0 and leads the majors in wins and ERA, 1.07. Larry Doby hit a grand slam and Jim Hegan homered twice for the Tribe. Pinch hitter Dick Kryhoski singled past the diving shortstop, Sam Dente, with two outs in the 8th to break up the no hitter

Herb Score took a no-hitter into the 8th inning as the Cleveland Indians beat
the Kansas City Athletics by a score of 9 to 0.

Larry Doby had a big day at the plate. He doubled scoring a run in the 3rd
inning and launched a Grand Slam homerun (his 9th of the season) in the 4th
inning. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.

For Score(7-0) it was his 4th shutout this year. The left-handed Score lost
his no-hit bid when Dick Kryhoski singled with two outs in the 8th inning.
Bobby Shantz(0-7) was tagged with the loss. He allowed Cleveland 5 runs in 3
and 1/3 innings of work.
