Ted Tappe homers twice and Paul Minner tosses the shutout as the Cubs pound the Cardinals 9-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Paul Minner tossed a shutout and Ted Tappe cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at
Wrigley Field as the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the count
of 9 to 0.

Tappe provided much of the offense. He ripped a solo home run in the 5th
inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 3rd of the season) in the 7th
inning. Chicago rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon.

Minner(3-3) went the distance for the shutout. Larry Jackson(2-4) was given
the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.
