Billy Hoeft delivered 9 solid innings as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
Washington Nationals by a score of 1 to 0 at Briggs Stadium.

The winning run, and the only run, was scored by Detroit in the bottom of the
7th inning. The Washington bats were silent in the 9th.

Hoeft(4-5) was credited with the shutout. Dean Stone(3-3) was the loser. He
