Clem Labine allowed Walt Alston to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Roy Campanella had 2 base hits at Ebbets Field as the Brooklyn Dodgers
beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 2.

Brooklyn had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The key
offensive moment was provided by Carl Furillo who thrilled the crowd when he
popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 6th of the season). Brooklyn and
Pittsburgh each finished the night with 7 hits.

The victory was credited to Labine(3-1) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Bob Friend(2-1) was given the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 7 hits in 8
innings.
