Dee Fondy cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the Chicago Cubs defeated the St.
Louis Cardinals 8 to 3 at Sportsmans Park.

Chicago jumped on top of St. Louis in the 3rd inning when they tallied 4 runs
on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Paul Minner(4-3) and
Chicago. That was all the run support Minner required. Both teams ended up
with 7 on the afternoon.

Gordon Jones(1-6) took the loss. His ERA increased from 5.51 to 5.97 as he
allowed 5 runs in 5 innings. With this win, Chicago has a 19-24 record.
They have been 7-3 lately. With the loss, St. Louis has a record of 3-7
lately, 18-21 overall.
