Don Newcombe completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Brooklyn
Dodgers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 3 to 2 at Ebbets
Field.

Newcombe(6-1) pitched well for Brooklyn in their victory. He was reached for
8 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but
Brooklyn was able to put down the rally.

Ron Kline(1-7) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 8
innings.
