Center fielder Willie Mays ripped 2 homeruns as the New York Giants topped the
Chicago Cubs in 11 innings by a score of 6 to 5 at Polo Grounds.

The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Finally, New York
pulled the game out in the 11th inning. Mays cracked a solo homerun (his
15th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for New York and the
18,527 home town fans in attendance. The game was a wild affair with the
lead changing hands 5 times.

Windy McCall(3-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Harry
Perkowski(0-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and 1
walk in 2 innings.
