Art Ceccarelli(3-4) and Mickey McDermott(2-4) treated the Kansas City fans to
a fine pitching duel at Municipal Stadium. The Kansas City Athletics
eventually emerged as victors over the Washington Nationals by the score of 3
to 0.

Ceccarelli put on a good performance. He didn't give up much, just 2 hits and
6 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings reducing his ERA from 4.43 to 3.74. Overall
Kansas City out-hit Washington 6 to 2.

Ceccarelli got help from Tom Gorman who earned his 4th save. The Kansas City
ballclub's record now stands at 17-33. Washington continued their losing
ways and their record is now 19-30. They are 1-9 in their last ten games.
