Jim Delsing lofted one into the 'cheap seats' at Briggs Stadium as the Detroit
Tigers beat the New York Yankees by the count of 4 to 2.

Detroit jumped on top of New York in the 4th inning plating an isolated run.
Both teams totaled 8 on the afternoon.

Billy Hoeft(5-5) allowed 2 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Hoeft got relief help from Babe Birrer who gained credit for his 1st
save. Johnny Kucks(4-1) suffered the loss. He allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in
4 and 2/3 innings.
