Curt Simmons had a strong outing as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the St.
Louis Cardinals by a score of 6 to 2 at Connie Mack Stadium.

Philadelphia drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. Philadelphia totaled 8 on the night.

The victory was credited to Simmons(2-3) who went the distance, allowing 2
runs. Harvey Haddix(5-5) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around by
Philadelphia, allowing 6 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.
