Catcher Del Crandall smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Milwaukee Braves
defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 8 to 7 at Connie Mack
Stadium.

The Philadelphia fans didn't appreciate the big day Crandall had. He ripped a
solo home run in the 2nd inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 10th of the
season) in the 7th inning. Philadelphia had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.

Bob Buhl(5-2) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. The
loss was charged to Dave Cole(0-3). He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 2/3
innings of work.

Mayo Smith was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
