Ray Monzant pitched 6 strong innings and Whitey Lockman blasted a homerun as
the New York Giants outscored the Milwaukee Braves in 13 innings 6 to 5.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. New York came out on top in
the 13th inning. Don Mueller delivered a solo blast (his 3rd of the season)
giving New York the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. New York
had 12 hits for the afternoon.

Monzant(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 6 innings. Warren
Spahn(5-5) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no walks in 1
inning.
