NL Trade June 7th

The Philadelphia Phillies traded 24 year old pitcher Dave Cole and cash to the Brooklyn Dodgers for 25 year old hurler Ron Negray.

Cole, aquired from the Cubs in the offseason, has struggled so far in 1955 posting an 0-3 record with a 8.84 ERA in 18 innings over 3 starts. With the Cubs last year he was 6-4 with a 4.39 ERA in 14 starts. The Dodgers immediately sent Cole to AAA to work on his performance (Dave Cole would never appear in the majors again).

Negray is still considered a rookie having had a brief cup of coffee with Brooklyn in the 1952 campaign. In 4 games that year he had no record over 13 innings with a 3.46 ERA. Phillie Manager Mayo Smith said he plans to insert Negray into the taxed Philadelphia bullpen.
