Rookie Hal Smith doubled in two runs in the 8th as the Orioles beat the Athletics 5-3 extending their winning streak to 5 games.

In a tight game it was the Baltimore Orioles 5, the Kansas City Athletics 3 at
Municipal Stadium.

Baltimore had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits.
After an out was recorded, Billy Cox opened up the rally as he tripled. Cal
Abrams stepped up next and he drew a walk. After another out, Gene Woodling
came up and he lined a one-base hit bringing in a run. Hal Smith stepped in
and he doubled as another two runners scored. Baltimore rapped out 8 hits
for the night.

The victory was credited to Jim Wilson(4-5) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Ray Moore earned his 4th save. Ray Herbert(1-4) was tagged with the
loss.
