Sam Jones tossed a fine 2 hitter and Jim King hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as
the Chicago Cubs defeated the New York Giants by the score of 4 to 2 at Polo
Grounds.

Chicago came up with 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The key offensive moment was provided by King who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he blasted a two-run home run (his 2nd of the season).
Chicago totaled 8 on the afternoon.

Jones(4-6) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Jim Hearn(5-5) was
tagged with the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.

'We didn't have a whole lot of chances today,' Lou Durocher said. 'Jones just
was too much for our guys.'
