Al Rosen smacked 2 homeruns as the Cleveland Indians topped the Washington
Nationals by a score of 9 to 5 at Griffith Stadium.

Cleveland went ahead for good in the top of the 2nd inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Rosen opened up the
scoring as he hit a bases-empty home run. Dave Philley next to the plate and
he stroked a base-hit. One out later, Jim Hegan came up and he cracked a
two-run shot (his 4th of the season). Overall Cleveland out-hit Washington
14 to 9.

Bob Lemon(7-7) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Chuck
Stobbs(4-5) took the loss. He allowed Cleveland 7 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings
of work.
