AL Transaction June 16th
The Cleveland Indians placed 30 year old first baseman Vic Wertz on the DL. Wertz, playing in his 9th season, was aquired from Baltimore last year and played a key role in the Tribes championship run. Overall in 1954 he hit .244 with 16 homers and 56 RBI. This season he got off to a great start and was leading the AL in RBI for the first month and a half but has really struggled over the last month, hitting only .071 in June. In 44 games he is hitting .203 with 8 homers and 30 RBI.
