Billy Pierce pitched a 3 hit shutout and George Kell had 2 base hits and 2 RBI
at Comiskey Park where the Chicago White Sox beat the Washington Nationals 5
to 0.

Pierce(6-2) looked very much in control throughout the day. He didn't allow
much, just 3 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 1.91 to
1.66. Chicago had 9 hits for the afternoon.

Bob Porterfield(4-5) took the loss. He pitched 6 innings allowing 8 hits and
6 walks. Chicago now has a record of 31-19. Still in a bad slump, with this
loss, Washington is 2-8 lately and 20-33 on the year.
