Carl Erskine tossed a complete game and first baseman Gil Hodges had 2 base
hits as the Brooklyn Dodgers topped the Cincinnati Redlegs by a score of 8 to
1 at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati was unable to recover after Brooklyn went ahead in the 4th inning
scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Duke Snider started the inning off
right when he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Sandy Amoros stepped
in and he tripled resulting in a run. Hodges then doubled scoring the final
run of the inning. Brooklyn totaled 9 on the night.

The victory was credited to Erskine(6-5) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Rudy Minarcin(2-3) was charged with the loss. He gave up 2 runs and 4
hits in 5 innings.
