Dave Pope cleared three ducks from a very crowded pond with a grand slam as
the Cleveland Indians won a dandy at Municipal Stadium over the New York
Yankees, 10 to 6.

Cleveland scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning as they scored 4 runs
on 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Pope who thrilled
the crowd when he cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 4th of the
season). Cleveland ended up with 10 hits for the game while New York had 6.

Ray Narleski(3-0) allowed 3 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Tom Morgan(3-1) was the loser in relief. With this win, Cleveland
has a 33-21 record. They have been 6-4 lately. With the loss, the New York
ballclub's record is 39-18.
