WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Al Smith robbed Sammy White of a base hit.

Early Wynn was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game as the Cleveland Indians outscored the Boston Red Sox 3 to 2.

Cleveland came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 3
hits. Larry Doby led off and keyed the rally when he slapped a base-hit.
Ralph Kiner got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.
After another out, Dave Philley came up and he lined a single. Sam Dente
followed and he doubled driving home two runs. Boston threatened in the 9th
but Cleveland was able to put down the rally.

Wynn(5-1) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Tom Brewer(6-5) ended
up with the loss. He was unable to control the Cleveland offense and allowed
10 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.

'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Pinky Higgins 'But we
have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'
