Third baseman Eddie Mathews went yard and had 2 RBI as the Milwaukee Braves
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8 to 4 at Forbes Field.

In the 5th inning Milwaukee scored 4 runs with the help of 5 hits. The
crucial at-bat was provided by Mathews who deflated the spirits of the home
town crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his
14th of the season). Milwaukee ended up with 14 hits for the game while
Pittsburgh had 8.

Warren Spahn(6-5) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Vern
Law(5-3) was given the loss. He allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3
innings.

The Milwaukee ballclub's record now stands at 33-21. With the loss,
Pittsburgh has a record of 4-6 lately, 20-36, worst in the league overall.
