Harry Byrd pitched a 3 hit shutout at Yankee Stadium as the Chicago White Sox
beat the New York Yankees 3 to 0.

Byrd(7-4) was simply too much for the New York batters. He didn't allow much,
just 3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.31 to 2.91.
Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.

Bob Turley(7-3) took the loss. Marty Marion was very impressed with his
pitcher, Byrd, 'He had unusually good pitch placement this afternoon. It was
almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'
