Herb Score took a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Al Rosen homered and had 3
RBI at Griffith Stadium where the Cleveland Indians beat the struggling
Washington Nationals by the score of 8 to 3.

Score(9-2) was on top of his game. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 8
walks in 9 innings. Score recorded 12 strikeouts. The left-handed Score
lost his chance for a no-hitter when Carlos Paula singled with two outs in
the 7th inning. Cleveland simply wore out the Washington pitching staff,
scoring in 6 different innings.

Mickey McDermott(2-5) was tagged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9
hits and 6 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Score, when asked about his 12
strikeout performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20
and we lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we
won it feels great!'
