Sam Jones completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Chicago Cubs
defeated the New York Giants by the score of 3 to 2 at Wrigley
Field.

Chicago brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning with
the help of 3 hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest.
New York threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

The win was credited to Jones(5-7) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
Marv Grissom(0-5) was charged with the loss in relief.

When questioned about the loss, Lou Durocher said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'
