Right fielder Hank Bauer had 3 base hits at Municipal Stadium where the New
York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 4 to 3.

New York won the game with a rally in the 8th inning with 3 runs on 2 hits.
Irv Noren opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Yogi Berra stepped up to the plate and he popped a two-run clout
over the fence (his 14th of the season). Eddie Robinson then delivered a
solo blast (his 4th of the season). Cleveland could do no damage in the
bottom of the 9th.

The victory went to Jim Konstanty(4-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Bob Lemon(6-7). He surrendered 9 hits and 2
walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
