Ned Garver went the distance as the Detroit Tigers topped the Boston Red Sox
by a score of 5 to 4 at Fenway Park.
Detroit set the tone of the game in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs
on 2 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Earl Torgeson who
deflated the crowd as he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of
the season). Detroit and Boston each finished the night with 9 hits.
The win was credited to Garver(5-4) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs.
Willard Nixon(4-6) was hit with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 5 walks in 9
innings.
