The New York Giants defeated the Milwaukee Braves by a score of 6 to 3 at
County Stadium.
Hank Thompson had a big day against Milwaukee. He lined a single in the 2nd
inning, ripped a solo home run (his 14th of the season) in the 4th inning and
doubled scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning. Both teams finished the
game with 12 hits.
Ruben Gomez(4-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Windy McCall got the save, his 1st. Lew Burdette(4-6) took
the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
