Ron Negray in his 2nd ML start (1st was in 1952) tossed a 3 hitter as the Phillies run over the Cubs 8-1 in the 1st of two.

Ron Negray hurled a 3 hitter at Wrigley Field as the Philadelphia Phillies
beat the Chicago Cubs by the count of 8 to 1.

Negray(1-0) put on a good performance. He surrendered only 3 hits and 4 walks
in 9 innings. Philadelphia finished with 8 hits in the victory.

The losing pitcher was Jim Davis(2-1). He was knocked around, surrendering 5
runs in 4 and 1/3 innings. 'It felt really nice to get this win,' Negray
said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out
this time.'
