Rudy Minarcin was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Cincinnati Redlegs defeated the ice-cold Pittsburgh
Pirates 8 to 1 at Crosley Field.

In the 4th inning Cincinnati went on top for good scoring 2 runs. After two
were out Wally Post opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Gus Bell was next
and he blasted a two-run home run (his 12th of the season). Cincinnati had a
total of 11 hits for the game.

Minarcin(3-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Bob
Friend(2-5) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Cincinnati now has a record of 30-27. Fred Haney was pretty down after the
loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like 1-9 in the
last week or two. That won't get it done.'
