The Philadelphia Phillies offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 3rd
inning and edged the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field by the score of 7 to
6.

Chicago was unable to recover after Philadelphia went ahead in the 7th inning
when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. Chicago made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Thornton Kipper(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3
innings. Jack Meyer was credited with his 4th save. The loss was charged to
Hal Jeffcoat(2-5) in relief.

With this win, Philadelphia has a 30-32 record. They have been 4-6 lately.
With the loss, Chicago has a record of 5-5 lately, 30-34 overall.
