AL Transaction June 24th
The Chicago White Sox released 11 year veteran outfielder Willard Marshall. Marshall, 34, was hitting only .103 in 54 plate appearnces this year. Last year he hit .182 in 82 plate appearnces with 5 RBI for the Sox. "We just couldn't give him any more time" said skipper Marty Marion. Marshall had his best years in the late 40s with the NY Giants, including 1947 when he mashed 36 homers driving in 107.
