Hank Sauer hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI at Wrigley Field where the
Chicago Cubs beat the Brooklyn Dodgers in 10 innings 6 to 3.

The score was tied at 3 after nine. Chicago came out the victor in the 10th
inning. Frankie Baumholtz led off and started the rally when he slapped a
one-base hit. Ernie Banks followed and he stroked a base-hit. Sauer was the
next batter, but he struck out. Bob Speake was a strikeout victim, unable to
help out. Dee Fondy came to the plate and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his
11th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for Chicago and the
7,922 home town fans in attendance. Chicago had 13 hits overall, while
Brooklyn had 8.

The win was credited to Hal Jeffcoat(3-5) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Ed Roebuck(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
