Early Wynn(6-1) and Art Schallock(0-1) treated the Baltimore fans to a fine
pitching duel at Memorial Stadium. The Cleveland Indians eventually emerged
as victors over the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 2 to 1.

Cleveland brought 1 run across the plate in the top of the 5th inning. Jim
Hegan stroked a one-base hit. Wynn stepped up next and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. After another out, Hank Majeski stepped in and he hit a
single scoring the run. Majeski took second on the throw. Baltimore made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Wynn was helped out by Ray Narleski who recorded his 8th save.
