Billy Pierce whiffed 10 batters as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Boston
Red Sox by a score of 4 to 2 at Fenway Park.

Pierce(7-3) gave Chicago a solid outing. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 9 hits and no walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.01 to 1.80.
Chicago banged out 10 on the night.

Mel Parnell(3-1) was hit with the loss. He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 6
innings. Pierce was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I
felt pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind
me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called
game!'
