The Detroit Tigers defeated the Washington Nationals by a score of 11 to 7 at
Griffith Stadium.

Harvey Kuenn provided the offensive punch. He cleared the bases with a Grand
Slam homerun (his 1st of the season) in the 4th inning, delivered a single in
the 8th inning and doubled which plated a run in the 9th inning. For the
game Detroit out-hit Washington 17 to 14.

The winning pitcher was Ned Garver(6-4) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 2/3
