In a dramatic ending at Municipal Stadium the Cleveland Indians won in their
last at-bat beating the Kansas City Athletics by the count of 3 to
2.

Cleveland scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. Ralph Kiner doubled.
After an out was recorded, George Strickland came to the plate and laced a
base-hit giving Cleveland the win and sending the home town fans into a
frenzy. Cleveland had just 6 hits for the night.

Herb Score(10-2) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. The
loss was charged to Bobby Shantz(1-8). He allowed 3 runs and 6 hits in 8 and
1/3 innings.

Comments:
Hard to believe Shantz had a 1-8 record. He was tough. These A's must have been awful.
