Arnie Portocarrero threw a complete game shutout as the Kansas City Athletics
topped the Detroit Tigers by a score of 3 to 0 at Municipal
Stadium.

Portocarrero(4-2) looked very much in control throughout the night. He didn't
give up much, just 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 5.40
to 4.37. Neither team managed to score after the 2nd inning.

Frank Lary(4-10) took the loss. He surrendered 6 hits and 3 walks in 7
innings. The Kansas City ballclub's record now stands at 25-47. With this
loss, Detroit has a 3-7 record of late, 33-39 overall.
