In an great finish the Kansas City Athletics won in dramatic fashion over the
Detroit Tigers by a score of 5 to 3 at Municipal Stadium.

Kansas City came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
when they scored 5 runs on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Gus
Zernial who electrified Municipal Stadium when he belted a three-run homer
(his 11th of the season). Kansas City ended up with 8 hits for the game
while Detroit had 5.

Johnny Sain(1-2) got the win allowing 2 runs in 1 inning. Al Aber(3-5) was hit
with the loss in relief. 'What a win!', Sain said. 'These are the kind of
games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'
