The impressive New York Yankees registered 4 runs in the 7th inning and
defeated the Washington Nationals by a score of 9 to 5 at Yankee
Stadium.
 
New York tallied 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the help of 3
hits.  The highlight belonged to Tom Sturdivant who brought the crowd to
their feet when he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond.  New York
had 12 hits overall, while Washington had 9.  
 
The victory went to Sturdivant(2-2) who went 5 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Bob Porterfield(5-8) suffered the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 11
hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
